Do I have to renew these qualifications? NASM's Personal Trainer Certification (NASM-CPT) and Nutrition Coach Certification (NASM-CNC) are both certifications, which means you must re-certify every two years. In order to re-certify as an NASM-CPT, you must earn 2.0 NASM approved CEUs (Continuing Education Units). 0.1 CEUs must be from your current CPR and AED certifications. To re-certify for the NASM Nutrition Coach Certification, you must complete the NASM-CNC Renewal Exam.
What are Continuing Education Units (CEUs)? In order to re-certify NASM-CPT, you are required to earn 2.0 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) every two years. The Nutrition Coach Certification is worth 1.9 CEUs, meaning that after completing this course and getting 0.1 CEUs from the mandatory CPR/AED certification, you would have enough CEUs to re-certify!
How long will I have to complete the courses? You have 12 months to complete the NASM-CPT and NASM-CNC final exams. Each course is typically completed in just 8-12 weeks. Although the exams expire, you will maintain access to the NASM-CPT content for 1 year upon purchase and access to the NASM-CNC content for 5 years or the life of the product; whichever expires first. This allows you to go back and reference the rich course content during the beginning of your career.
How are the exams administered? Both the NASM-CPT and the NASM-CNC exams are proctored either remotely online or live at PFC Studio.
Which exam should I complete first?
We recommend that you complete the NASM-CPT exam first so that you can utilise the CEUs from the NASM-CNC course for your NASM-CPT renewal.
